AI changed how software gets written. Measurement did not keep up.
Engineering teams adopted AI coding tools faster than any tool before them. Budgets followed. The way leaders measure engineering did not: vendor dashboards counted suggestions and acceptances, and nobody could say what the tools were actually doing for the work that shipped.
So we measured it ourselves. We ran an agent on every laptop across a 22-developer pilot and recorded every Claude Code session, prompt and commit for a month. The average lift was a real but modest 1.8x. One project hit 14.3x. Legacy code got slower. And 24% of our paid seats had not been used at all.
That data changed how we coached, budgeted and rolled out AI. CloudByte AI is the tool we wished we had at the start: zero workflow change for developers, live answers for the people accountable for the spend, and the controls a security team expects.
